Happy New Year to all…

January 2nd, 2009

A belated Happy New Year to everyone I know (and those I don’t yet know but may be getting to know in 2009…er…best stop before I get myself further into any Rumsfeldisms).   Its cold.  I hate the cold.  I was looking back over 2008′s blog posts (yes, I know there aren’t enough of them and I do try my best) and saw that the sun had disappeared until 20th January last year.  I hope we’re not in for a repeat performance of that.

There’s something to be said for grey leaden skies though, they do inspire something of a grungy feeling in my work; and lets face it you can’t beat all round soft light to mould and model with additional lighting.  At least with a grey leaden sky you aren’t fighting harsh sun and almost impossible contrast.

I do miss the blueness of the sky though.   Spent a while in the summer in southwest France and there’s an intense blue in the skies down there in southern Europe you just don’t get here.  It’s a sort of blue that says “its hot”.

See what I mean! Oh to be there now…

So here’s wishing for a great summer this year so we can get all those summery ‘really need sunshine and blue sky’ type projects done without endless weather days, water and wellingtons.

Until later…

J
