Gratuitous plug time.
A very good friend of mine, photographer John Carolan who lives in Shetland (that group of islands you can just see on the weather map that lie between Scotland and Norway) has spent the last two years on a personal project shooting portraits documenting 100 of the islands women.

This work has culminated in an exhibition which is currently on at the Bonhoga Gallery, Weisdale Mill, Weisdale, Shetland ZE2 9LW until 2nd September 2007.

The project, shot exclusively in monochrome, is also available as a book which you can purchase here

You can see some of the portraits from the project on John’s website which also includes some beautiful landscape and reportage work from both Shetland and further afield.
