Sporting links…
February 8th, 2009
Sitting here in nervous anticipation of the biggest game of the year later today for my beloved Tottenham Hotspur FC. Yes, its the home tie against the auld enemy and arch nemesis, Arsenal. This game could define our season. It’s the North London derby. We’ve been appalling this year and along with several other teams we are battling to avoid the drop. The shambolic transfers out and in again haven’t helped but Keano is back and all we can do is cross our fingers and hope that the combination of him at one end and Cudicini at the other keep us up.
Linking seamlessly from the North London derby into a shoot with ex-Derby County FC chairman and lifelong Ram’s fan Peter Gadsby. I had the opportunity to shoot Peter for a business magazine article. The shoot was scheduled for 30 minutes but we inevitably ended up talking about football, the state of the game, the state of Tottenham, the price of matchday pies… which ensured that the shoot had a real buzz to it. Peter was a great subject, uber-enthusiastic football fan and thoroughly enjoyed himself. This is my favourite frame of the session.

Linking tentatively from Derby County via their old local rivals Nottingham Forest (they also shared a manager in the late great Brian Clough) I noticed that one of my previous sporting subjects, Nottingham’s Stuart Broad (yep that was a tentative link!) took a 5-wicket haul yesterday in the 1st test against the West Indies. Well done Stuart! Let’s not dwell on the overall team performance though…51 all out…ouch!

So to any managers of emerging sporting prodigies out there, just send them my way for a shoot and greatness shall appear…..(not guaranteed and terms and conditions apply..)!
As usual, you can see larger version of these images in the “people” galleries on my website portfolio
Until (we probably lose) later….
