The sun has got his hat on…(not).

Happy New Year everyone. I hope you all had a good rest and are raring to go in 2008. Somebody needs to tell the weather though.

Its past mid-January now and the big shiny yellowy thing in the sky has overslept. It was last seen sometime in mid-December. Would anyone who lives nearby please go and wake it up. There’s nothing much you can do when as Morrissey would say “Every day is like Sunday, every day is silent and grey”. That pretty much sums up the current weather here in the north of the UK. Oh, and its rained shedloads too….

I’ve got plans for shoots that, unfortunately, need the big yellowy thing to show its head for a bit. A bit of blue sky wouldn’t go amiss either. Don’t get me wrong, I’m all for moodiness and dark sexy clouds with a bit of bite but at the moment its just, well, flat. It’s like the UK has been visited in the night by a giant softbox that’s hanging over us a mile up like something out of Independence Day. And as we all know - uniform light doth not an interesting image make…

The lack of decent light though has given me chance to catch up with a ton of stock I shot last year. It all needs to be retouched and toned and sent off to my libraries and as good as Photoshop is, it can’t do it by itself (yet). At least I can get some solace from working on images shot in the height of summer (you remember the summer - it lasted for about a week in August…..).

So here, for all you S.A.D. sufferers out there in greysville is an image of the seaside. Deckchairs, sunbathers, sand, sea, sky, the smell of fish and chips and sunblock. Bet you feel better now eh?

You can see a larger version of the final in the “people 2″ gallery on my website portfolio

Until later….

J
